As CEO of the Wellness Center I visit the bank for our loan, order advertising, and print invoices for Wellness membership for businesses in JA BizTown. I answer questions for visitors, make business decisions, and in my speech at the Morning Town Meeting I tell everyone about our business and the products we sell. My job stays very busy most of the day and I fill in for and help all my employees when they need help or are out on a break.
I spend my day working on a computer, processing payroll checks for all Wellness Center employees. There is always A LOT of paperwork on my desk so I have to be organized as I pay all the bills for our business. I am also responsible for depositing our business income in the bank.
During the morning I help set up our Center and assemble products we sell. Later in the day I perform health care screenings that include vision tests, checking pulse rates, measuring height and taking the temperature of patients visiting the Wellness Center. I also encourage our patients to participate in one of our virtual computer games, visit the physical therapist or purchase a product.
Using a stethoscope I am responsible for assessing our patients’ breathing and lung function. The Wellness Center also has a health survey form that I help patients fill out. My schedule is often flexible and I help out the Medical Assistant and Physical Therapist as needed.
As patients enter the Wellness Center I collect their membership voucher and record them on the registration list. My responsibilities also include demonstrating physical fitness activities such as jumping rope, jumping jacks, push-ups and sit-ups and encouraging patients to see how many they can do in 45 seconds. Some patients will complete a fitness survey, and I help with that as well.
After the Wellness Center CEO prints the invoices, I mail them to each business in JA BizTown. I also distribute the vouchers for membership to each business CEO so that their employees can visit us during one of their breaks. As payment for membership is mailed back to us, I record the payment on a special checklist and I assist with registration of patients when they visit us for a fitness or medical check-up or to purchase a product.
As a paramedic, I am always ready to assist wherever I am most needed. Most often I am assisting the Registered Nurse in performing the health assessments by checking vision, taking pulse rates, and taking temperatures. I also help assure sanitary conditions by encouraging employees and patients to use hand sanitizer on a regular basis.
