9-14 year olds Week Schedule

Day 1:             Story – Exploration

Orientation

  • What is drama? Why are we here?
  • Eliminating our inner critic
  • Discuss importance of Actor and Audience

-          Energy warm-ups with imagination, body and voice

-          Discovery Exercises

-          Explore 5 Vocal Resonators and Warm-ups

-          Theatre Games

Focus Activities

  • Story-telling: a frozen picture tells a story
  • Use well known fairy tale to establish concepts of Beginning, Middle, End and Conflict
  • Break-out to discuss begin, middle, end and main concepts
  • Create frozen scenes and add lines

 

Presentations and Student Preferences.

  • Counselors present Production areas

 

Day 2:             Part A: Script – Adaptation

  • discuss Setting/Context, begin, middle, end and main concepts
  • Frozen Pictures + Lines (capture)
  • Campers indicate parts/jobs they are interested in, List of all and they number in order of preference
  • Campers capture design ideas for scenic, costume, make-up, prop, lighting, sound
  • Establish production staff
  • Demonstrate Theatre Terms & Learn Stage Directions
  • Theatre Games
  • Assign roles and Read through scripts

 

Day 3:             PRODUCTION DAY – wear grubbies

  • Final Designs, Build & Paint Sets, Gather & Adapt Costumes, Determine & Create Props
  • Initial Read Through & Blocking of Script, Intro to Technical aspects      

 

Day 4: Put it all together

  • Put scenery together. Final touch ups.

§         Finish costume adaptations. Kids bring in what they have.

§         Lighting and Sound cue to cues.

§         Tickets and Programs are printed out and copied. 

§         Imagination Exercises and Character Exploration

§         Line Memorization (Speed Thru, etc.)

  • Run Through both shows
  • Dress Rehearsal #1/Notes/Fix things
  • Reset/Dress Rehearsal #2/Clean Up
  • Run Both Shows

           

Day 5:             Performance – all elements come together

  • Full Dress Runs
  • Theatre Focus Workshops (Diction, Projection, Improvisation, Storytelling)
  • 2:30pm Final Dress Reh. for Biz Campers
  • 6:20pm Arrival of campers for Public performance
  • 6:40pm Arrival of family and friends
  • 7pm     Performance
